O'Fallon man sentenced to seven years in prison for killing a construction worker in Chesterfield. Ryan A. Seler, 34, was sentenced to seven years in prison for hitting and killing construction worker Gavin Donohue along highway 40 (I-64) in Chesterfield on July 7, 2007.

From St. Louis Post Dispatch...

St. Louis County Circuit Court Judge John Ross imposed the sentence that was recommended by the jury against Seeler for his conviction for first-degree involuntary manslaughter. Police said Seeler was driving drunk when he killed Donohue, 22, an enginneering student from St. Louis that was attending the University of Rolla.

Seeler faced a sentence of up to 15 years and will have to serve at least 85% of his sentence under state law. Travis Noble, Seeler's defense attorney, said the sentence will be appealed.
